Sleeping is the ultimate luxury. Wouldn’t it be great if you could burn calories even in your sleep?

Sounds like fiction? But this is possible with Zone diet! This weight loss diet will help you lose at least one to two pounds a week. The diet ensures that your body is at the optimum fat burning stage and will lead you to a healthier way of life.

Zone Diet:

Barry Sears, a biochemist, created the Zone diet. He wrote the book “Enter the Zone” and it was an instant best seller, with many Hollywood personalities following the diet plan. He believes that the solution to quick and lasting weight loss is to achieve an appropriate balance of hormones in the body, which also keeps your blood sugar stable and within safe levels.

According to this leading biochemist, high levels of insulin, a very important hormone in the human body that helps manage blood sugar, in conjunction with other hormones can cause you to pile on pounds. He also strongly believes and can establish that it is these hormones going out of control that is a chief driver of the obesity epidemic that has hit several countries. He says food is like drugs—you have to take the right dose at the right time.

Eating the right proportion of food at every meal will help ensure that insulin and several other inflammation-promoting body hormones stay right “in the zone.” The proportion prescribed by him is:

  • 40% carbohydrates
  • 30% healthy fat
  • 30% protein

The optimum balance of these healthy nutrients will help the body to be healthy, fitter, slimmer and energetic. The Zone diet is a “metabolic state in which the body works at peak efficiency,”

The Diet Plan:

A calorific value of 1200 for women and 1500 for men is allowed in this diet. You eat five times, according to the plan – three meals through the day and two snacks to keep hunger pangs at bay. At each meal, you should include a good 30 percent of rich protein, 40 percent carbs, and 30 percent of healthy consumable fats. There is not much change in caloric value from a normal diet but you just change the food that you eat.

You can eat carbohydrates like fruits, vegetables and lentils, beans, whole grains, etc. While you’ll need to avoid carbohydrates like brown rice, bread, pasta, banana, papaya, mango, dry breakfast cereal, bagel, tortilla, carrots, etc. If you cannot avoid these, make sure they form a minuscule part of your diet. Though no food is banned, you have to choose among favorable ones that will help you with weight loss

This Zone diet plan is not a quick fix diet that will get you results within a week. But a week is all you’ll need to get an inkling of its working. You will feel slimmer and more energetic. You can be sure that it is fat that you are losing and not muscle or water from your body. A steady progress will ensure lasting results.

Diet Rules:

It is important that you stick to the rules of the diet if you want to achieve favorable results. You have to eat a meal within an hour of waking up and by no means let more than five hours go by without eating. It is also important to have a snack before bedtime. It is important you stick to the proportion of the diet at every meal. You cannot stack on the proteins at lunch and then consume all carbs for dinner. Packaged food is discouraged in the zone diet.

It is also important to follow a moderate exercise regime during the diet plan. Thirty minutes of aerobic exercise like walking, swimming etc and 10 minutes of strength training every day is required to achieve your weight loss goal.

Significance on Health:

There is no significant evidence as to how healthy this zone diet plan. However, it helps in considerable weight loss that ultimately is better for cardiovascular health, diabetes, and blood pressure. The diet will surely help you become fitter and energized.

So, get into ‘the zone’ with this swanky new diet plan! Give it a try for a healthier body.
