Dental health is certainly not limited to brushing and flossing. The food you eat also contributes considerably to your oral health. While sugary foods are the worst kind of foods for your teeth, there are a number of foods that can actually keep your teeth healthy and strong. Try these superfoods for healthy and strong teeth.


Milk is a good source of calcium, phosphates and vitamin D. All these nutrients contribute to one’s bone and teeth health.  Drinking milk daily can help strengthen and repair one’s tooth enamel.

Green tea

Green tea contains catechins, which are complex compounds that help fight inflammation and also help control bacterial infections. These anti-microbial catechins facilitate oral health. In fact a study also claims that people who drank green tea more often had fewer tooth loss problem later in life.

Nuts and seed

Nuts and seeds are not only rich in proteins but they are also rich in micronutrients such as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, zinc etc. which are extremely beneficial for dental health. Calcium is one of the most beneficial nutrients present in nuts and seeds that contributes to tooth remineralisation.


When you eat apples there’s an increase in the saliva in your mouth, thereby preventing cavity build-up as it scrubs your teeth’s surface.  Apart from that they are loaded with a number of vitamins and minerals that are good for one’s overall health. Eating an apple after a meal will help clean your teeth.

Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate is made up of cocoa which contains tannin. Tannin helps prevent decay and enamel erosion by fighting off gum inflammation. Cocoa also reduces the formation of plaque that infects teeth. Apart from this, dark chocolate also enhances blood circulation of the gum, thereby aiding dental health.
