Different seasons account for different fitness needs. With the summer sun heating things up, it’s time to shed those heavy clothes or better yet, hit the beach or pool to cool off. With that thought in mind everyone seems to be gearing up to show off their toned beach bodies. If you’ve not yet joined the bandwagon, here are some essential diet tips, which will help you get a beach body and improve your fitness levels.
Don’t cut out carbs
The beach body isn’t about lean and flat figures, it more about toned and supple muscles. For that it is important to make sure you eat carbs. While training, your muscles need glucose from carbohydrate-dense food that help fuel these muscles. Good carbs especially fibre rich ones like oats, vegetables, beans etc. can help build muscles and also keep one’s metabolic rate high.
Include healthy fats
Healthy fats have a number of health benefits. Consuming healthy fats like coconut oil, fish oil, olive oil, avocado, flax seeds etc. will actually help maintain low levels of body fats and will also provide your body with enough energy to regulate your stamina.
Drink green tea regularly
Green tea is the healthiest drink you can consume especially when you are on a beach body mission. It contains antioxidants that help protect one against free-radicals that damage one’s metabolic rate.
Eliminate refined foods completely
Refined foods in all its forms including refined flour, refined salts, refined sugars etc. are especially unhealthy if one wants to get a toned beach body. These refined foods can slow down the metabolic rate, increase hunger and can disrupt sleeping patterns.
The 20 minute rule
The 20 minute rule will prevent you from eating any more than what your body requires. According to this rule, you need to wait 20 minutes before taking an extra serving of food. The brain needs 20 minutes to register how full you are after a meal. So if you feel the need to indulge in an extra serving, wait 20 minutes instead for your brain to control the craving.
