Sahaja Yoga is about finding true happiness, love and joy in the smallest things of life. The meaning of Sahaja is “spontaneous”. It also means as a form of union. There are several benefits that one can derive from Sahaja Yoga and you should definitely give it a try!
How To Practice Sahaja Yoga:
Have you decided to give this life changing practice a try? And to help you, we have compiled this list of steps that you need to master to practice Sahaja Yoga:
1. Get Ready:
In order to practice Sahaja Yoga, you need to choose a spot that is comfortable and free from noise and chaos. Get hold of a chair, take your shoes off and be seated. Your feet should be flat on the ground. Now take your left hand and place it on the leg. You are now ready to begin with the procedure.
2. Speak To God:
Take your right hand and place it on your heart. Be silent and try to develop a connection with God, whatever you perceive him/her to be. Ask her if you are the true eternal spirit. You can take the name of any God or deity. Take your right hand and keep it one width down. Ask God again if you are your own master. Ask each of these questions thrice.
3. Ask For Knowledge:
Now it’s time to ask for knowledge. Take your right hand and keep it one width down. It should be right above your hip. Ask God for knowledge. Make sure you are using the term “Please”. Also repeat this statement 6 times.
Take your right hand and put it back at a distance of one hand width. Declare in your mind that you are your own master. However, you should make sure that you are still speaking to the deity you have chosen. Next, repeat the statement whole heartedly and say that you are the true spirit. This should be repeated 12 times.
5. Free Yourself:
Place your hand on the right side of your forehead and say in your mind that you are free from guilt. Repeat this 16 times. Take your right hand, keep your fingers together and squeeze your temples. Now, say within your heart that you have forgiven everyone. Repeat as many times as you can until you feel a sense of forgiveness. However, it’s better to not think of individuals you need to forgive.
6. Ask God For Forgiveness:
Now, it’s time for you to ask the eternal power for forgiveness and for this, you need to simply ask. Take your right hand, place it at the back of your head and tilt it backwards. Now, ask God to forgive you for every wrong thing, every wrong action you have ever done! Repeat as many times as you want.
7. End The Session:
Take your right hand now and put the palm on top of your hand. Make sure your fingers are not clenched together. They should be facing backwards. Now put some pressure as you begin to rotate your hand clockwise. Now ask from within your heart and tell God that you would like to establish a connection with your true self. Repeat 7 times. Now close your eyes and sit alone for a while. Now, your session is complete.
A belief in something bigger than you is essential for Sahaja Yoga to work. It may be God, it maybe the universe or it may be the divine inside you—once you connect with this perceived higher power, you will also connect with your inner self, because both are one and same!
